In his first Substack essay, an Israeli tour educator rejects the conventional wisdom of foreign policy elites and introduces a better way to analyze the conflict
So Daniel, you are a fence-sitter, a both-sider. Kind of a shame. You are not doing Israel any good if you don't tell the truth, which on persusal of your article, you don't. Why are people afraid to just tell the truth?!
The "Palestinians" were INVENTED in 1964. This is a religious war, nothing to do with land. The "West Bank" is actually Judea and Samaria and has been Jewish land forever.
Do you say any of this or is it your "business decision" to create a false equivalency?!
Thanks for reading. I encourage you to follow me on X at @paulrubens and go through my highlights and you’ll get a better idea of my views. I will also note that the essay you read is part of a series that I have not completed. In the meantime, I’d be happy if you can save me some time and show me a document trail that shows Palestinians were invented in 1964. I am aware of the PLO charter but I’d like to present deeper research that goes beyond talking points.
I’m aware that nothing you are saying is new. I am asking you how you would show this claim to be true, with primary source documents. Have you seen newspapers from 1963 and 1964 where a change in terminology and the invention of a people can be seen? Or are you relying on the conclusions of others?
My biggest issue with all these conversations is that I feel we are already in a losing position because of one thing: We CONTINUE to use their preferred fake identity of "pALeStiNiAn" which NEVER existed. this is participating in the lie. This is already wrong before we start discussing the truth. Right away by using the term we legitimize that they are "a people" when we know they aren't and never were. We must simply call them what they are:
- ARABIC SPEAKING HAMAS VOTERS SQUATTING IN GAZA, ISRAEL. OR
- ARABS, BEDOUINS, AND OTHER DESERT DWELLERS OF VARIOUS MIXED TRIBES OR
- ARABIC SPEAKERS WHO SUPPORT THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD. OR
- ARABIC SPEAKERS WHO WANT ALL JEWS DEAD AND ISRAEL ANNIHILATED. OR
- ARABIC SPEAKERS WHO WANT TO CONQUER THE WORD, SPREAD OUT, FORCE CONVERT PEOPLE TO ISLAM, SUBMIT EVERYONE TO SHARIA LAW, INSTALL A CALIPHATE NOT ONLY IN THE WEST BUT THE ENTIRE WORLD.
Israeli's and jews never had a problem living in peace with other kinds of people around them. All Israeli's and jews ever did was try to defend themselves from genocide.
Arabic speakers have 50 countries to choose from to live in and be able to practice islam as the major dominant religion, across 30 million square km of land. Meanwhile the jews are only asking to live in peace in a small sliver of land the size of New Jersey that is within the promised land of Israel (including modern day Jordan and more), but it's not enough for Arabs, they need every last jew genocided and Israel destroyed. Despite that even the Quran proves the land belongs to children of Israel and there's no evidence of any palestinian state, as it was never mentioned.
This article sounds even-handed, humane, and amiable. I am sorry that I can't assume such a friendly posture. Very simply, I am amazed at the lies promoted by Arabs and their allies. Most people are deaf, dumb and blind to the salient themes in the struggle. I have composed a rather succinct compendium of arguments butressing the Israeli position. Please take a loot at it: https://davidgottfried.substack.com/p/why-israel-is-right-and-why-the-arabs
Wasting time ruminating about a two state solution is absurd. Any prospect for that died when Israelis assassinated the great Rabin.
Israel has continued its process of land theft and subordinating the indigenous Arab population living outside Israel’s borders via apartheid and severe ethnic preferences. And the Palestinians have been severely let down by a leadership that is so bad that it barely qualifies to be called leadership. It didn’t help that none other than Netanyahu facilitated the creation of Hamas (he calls it “his conception“) as a way to undercut thePalestinian Authority.
The only solution will be a one state solution where, initially, the numbers of Arabs, whether Christians or Muslims, will be about equal to the numbers of Jews. Of course, demographics clearly demonstrate that the majority in that one state will before long be composed of Arabs.
We know that Israel will never withdraw Israelis to live back within the boundaries of Israel (and there are boundaries for that country even though it doesn’t like to discuss them). Indeed, the illegal settlements and the theft of land and himes in East Jerusalem and the West Bank (call it Judea and Samaria if it makes you more comfortable) are accelerating.
My guess is that while you lead tours in Israel and maybe even to the larger illegal settlements, you lead very few tours to Jenin, Nablus, Hebron, etc. so that you can evenhandedly compare and contrast the conditions for the indigenous Arab population as opposed to the conditions under which the Jewish settlers exist. Correct me if I’m wrong on that, please.
Thanks for reading and commenting, Dan. I will keep writing about subjects that I choose and I hope you'll keep reading, even if you think I'm wasting my time. Regarding your last point, Israeli tour guides are not allowed to guide inside Palestinian cities but I do work with Palestinian tour guides who take my groups into these areas.
And I imagine those tour guides have views that differ from yours. The situation Hebron is absurdly bad.
Why are Israeli Jews permitted to live in Palestinian cities outside of Israel under the repressive protection of the IDF (and how is facilitating having those Israelis live in those cities enhancing Israel’s security?) and yet you aren’t, as an Israeli, permitted to tour those cities?
Why is there a conflict? For tge same reason al - qaeda destroyed the tein towers and killed 3000 Americans on 9/11; for the same reason thst Islamist gunmen killed the entire staff of Charlie Hebdo in France . “!Why is there a conflict ?” fOr the same reason muslims slaughtered Brits on the Underground on 7/7. In Islam the world is duvided into two parts
One is the world of Islam , the other is the world of war . Islam has been at war with the non- muslim world-for 1400 years - remember tye Barbary Pirates ? Our first war with Islam as a nascent nation - defending our commercial ships from muslim piracy - and they will continue until the entire planet is muslim controlled .
I think there are several points that have thus fare ignored. 1) whether you think Jews are a people or not, the United Nations, both the general assembly and the security council, stated that Israel is a legal state and a UN member. All those people talking about international law need to acknowledge that fact. Israel is legal and to attack it is illegal, whatever the justification. 2) the vast majority of Israelis were born in Israel, whatever might have been right or wrong in 1948, the combatants of that era are largely all dead or will be soon. In other words the Israeli people exist de facto. Just like nobody would accept a war by Aborigines to expel non Aboriginal Australians, there is no just way of now calling for the expulsion of all Israeli Jews
Although this is what people say and want 2 State Solution living next door to a an assassin is not what any home owner wants nor do they want to see each other everyday knowing that at any time they might just come over at night and burn your house down. The official that work out the details donot and cannot control millions of people who hate Israel that is against human nature . May be after 200-300 years later when this is forgotten it is possible Palestinians who really want to improve their lives can move back and live in Israel Gaza otherwise Palestinians are dangerous people nobody really wants them in their country . Not accepting this continues the problem over and over and over again
Cliff hanger, my friend. Waiting impatiently for the next installment!
Working on it now

LOL - The FACT that the "Palestinian people" were INVENTED in 1964 is known. It's not a secret. It's not new information.
Are you really that young that you don't know this??!
It will take you 10 minutes of research. Good grief!!🙄
I’m aware that nothing you are saying is new. I am asking you how you would show this claim to be true, with primary source documents. Have you seen newspapers from 1963 and 1964 where a change in terminology and the invention of a people can be seen? Or are you relying on the conclusions of others?
You are showing yourself to be a ridiculous person.
This is ALL public information. It is not a secret. It is known history - the fact that you don't even know it is scandalous.
Are you one of the leftist tour guides who defame Israel to tourists? I am definitely taking note of that.
Hurry up !

Phallustinians?
They are the biggest dicks
Qataristinians?
Plenty of room there in the stadium infrastructure
Saudistinians?
Miles long City requires population, they're close to the big black rock they crave?
Well said!

All good point, but we need sources in order to effectively counter PPP.
Excellent lead-in, build-up, and cliff hanger. On the other hand, there's already written quite a bit about this topic. My personal favourite is Caroline Glick's https://jcpa.org/article/caroline-b-glick-the-israeli-solution-a-one-state-plan-for-peace-in-the-middle-east/
Good point. Written in 2014. Many reliable reporters warned about what would eventually happen on October 7th.
They weren't just "writings on the wall".
Caroline B. Glick, The Israeli Solution: A One-State Plan for Peace in the Middle East, New York: Crown Forum, 2014, 324 pp.
I appreciate the synthesis of thinking, boiling down what I'm sure is an incredibly long and complicated history.
Keep writing :)
Subscribed. But
I care about Cyprus. It has similarities.
I don't want to live next to someone who wants to murder me and slaughter my family.
So what exactly is the two-sided solution to the two-state conundrum? Is it always and forever one at the expense of the other?
Wasting time ruminating about a two state solution is absurd. Any prospect for that died when Israelis assassinated the great Rabin.

Ben-Gurion explained it quite clearly.
